September 27: World Tourism Day
World Tourism Day in 2007 is an occasion to celebrate women’s achievements in the tourism sector and stimulate continuous action in support of UN’s 3rd Millennium Development Goal: Promoting Gender Equality and Women Empowerment. This campaign is built to address the important role tourism can play in creating opportunities for employment that will help eliminate poverty in local communities in developing countries around the world. Our goal is to build on knowledge sharing and capacity building to ensure the tourism sector promotes gender equality and women empowerment through to 2015.
